Best Wedding Seating Chart and Floor Plan Tools (2026)
The right seating chart tool depends on whether you need the room drawn to scale and which device you plan on. Who each is best for, from each company’s own site as of October 2026:
- PerfectTablePlan: best for couples on Windows or Mac who want a dedicated seating program for one payment.
- Altessa: best for couples who want the floor plan and seating chart connected to their guest list, budget and timeline, in a browser.
- Seat Puzzle: best for couples on iPhone, iPad or Mac who want a scale floor plan and can start free.
- Zola: best for couples already using Zola’s guest list, with a free chart up to 15 guests.
- WeddingWire: best for couples who want a free seating chart and floor plan alongside a vendor directory.
- TopTablePlanner: best for couples who want a quick, low-cost table plan in any browser and do not need the room to scale.

The Knot and Joy are not in this table because we could not find a seating chart tool on their own product or help pages in October 2026. Social Tables and Prismm (formerly AllSeated) are built for professional planners and venues, so they are left out too. “Not listed” means we could not find it on that company’s own site in October 2026, not that it does not exist. Prices and features change; check each site before you buy.
Is PerfectTablePlan worth it for a wedding?
PerfectTablePlan is a desktop program for Windows and Mac, and its Home Edition is the one it recommends to people planning their own wedding. It costs $29.95 as a single payment, not a subscription, and a free trial lets you try everything, with saving, printing and export limited to 30 guests.
It does one job in depth: guest import from a spreadsheet, automatic seat assignment, drag and drop, table shapes and sizes on a scale floor plan, and RSVP and meal tracking. The trade off is the device. Its own FAQ says it does not run on iPhone, iPad, Android or a Chromebook, and it is not a cloud app, so planning together means sharing one computer or passing a file.
Does Altessa’s Layout Builder draw the room to scale?
Yes. Altessa’s Layout Builder draws the room in feet or meters and seats each guest at a specific seat, pulling names from the same guest list you use for RSVPs. It is part of Altessa Premium, $120 once with no subscription; Core at $80 does not include it.
The difference from a dedicated seating program is that the layout lives inside the rest of the plan: budget, vendors, timeline and a wedding website. It runs in a browser, so it opens on a laptop or a phone without installing anything. The honest limits: there is no native app, and if all you need is a seating chart, a one-job tool costs less.
Can Seat Puzzle make a to-scale wedding floor plan?
Yes. Seat Puzzle says you can build a floor plan up to 500 by 500 ft with walls and doors, and describes its layouts as scale accurate. It speaks to couples directly and to planners, seats guests in groups with their plus ones, and can publish a shareable RSVP page that collects meal choices.
It has apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac, plus a web version for other computers. It is free to try, with a Pro tier for more, but the Pro price is not shown on its public pages, so check it before you build your whole plan there. There is no budget tool listed.
Is Zola’s seating chart free?
Partly. Zola’s help center says you can try the seating chart for free for up to 15 guests, then unlock the Premium version to add more. Zola does not list the Premium price on that help page, so check it in the app before you start seating a full guest list.
The chart pulls in your confirmed guests from Zola’s guest list automatically, lets you build floor plans for the ceremony and reception, and downloads as a PDF or a spreadsheet. Zola does not say the floor plan is to scale. The seating chart runs on the Zola iOS app and on desktop, and Zola’s app page says the app is only available on iOS.
Is WeddingWire’s seating chart free?
Yes. WeddingWire says its seating chart tool is free, along with its website, checklist, budget tracker and guest list. You can set up round or square tables with the right number of seats, mark areas for the bar and dance floor, drag guests into place, and export or print the result.
WeddingWire also says you can create a custom floor plan based on your venue’s size and layout, though it does not say the plan is drawn to scale. Its tools sit next to a large vendor directory, and its apps are on iOS and Android. A good fit if free matters most and you are still finding vendors.
Is TopTablePlanner a subscription?
No. TopTablePlanner charges a one-off payment for a set period of access: £10 for 6 months on the Personal plan, or £15 for a year on Personal Plus, shown as $20 and $30 in its currency switcher. Its purchase page says it does not renew; the account simply expires.
It runs in any browser, with no app to install, and covers the seating basics: guests onto tables, import from Word or Excel, RSVP and meal tracking, and PDF exports for the venue. Its own help page says exact scaling is not supported, so it suits a table plan more than a measured room layout.
Common questions
What is the best free wedding seating chart tool?
WeddingWire’s seating chart is free with no guest limit stated on its own page, and Zola’s is free for up to 15 guests. Seat Puzzle and TopTablePlanner have free trials, and PerfectTablePlan has a free trial that saves up to 30 guests.
Which wedding seating chart tools draw the room to scale?
Altessa, PerfectTablePlan and Seat Puzzle each say their floor plans are to scale. Zola and WeddingWire offer floor plans but do not say they are to scale, and TopTablePlanner says exact scaling is not supported.
Can I make a wedding seating chart on my phone?
Yes, with several of these tools. WeddingWire has iOS and Android apps, Zola’s seating chart runs on its iOS app, Seat Puzzle has iPhone and iPad apps, and Altessa and TopTablePlanner run in a phone browser. PerfectTablePlan is the exception: it runs on Windows and Mac only.
Is there a one-time purchase wedding seating chart app?
Yes. PerfectTablePlan’s Home Edition is $29.95 paid once, and Altessa Premium, which includes the Layout Builder, is $120 paid once. TopTablePlanner is also a one-off payment, but for a set access period of 6 or 12 months.
Should the seating chart be connected to my guest list?
It saves a lot of retyping. Zola pulls confirmed guests from its guest list, and Altessa seats guests from the same list that collects RSVPs, so you seat the names that replied. Standalone tools import a spreadsheet instead, which works but needs updating when RSVPs change.
